Large multinational in the Energy & Renewables sector is currently looking to hire a Solar Engineering Manager for their operations to be based in Lisbon.
Description
The Engineering Manager will be the head of a team that is responsible for the design engineering of projects to be built, from the study to the preparation/validation of calculation notes, technical notes and specifications, bill of quantities, execution layouts and diagrams.
Missions :
Design engineering
- Define/clarify the need and list the constraints other than technical
- Define and master the technical standards and legislation applicable to the geographical area (international (IEC, IEEE) and European (EN, CENELEC) locally accepted, and also some specifications of Portuguese standards and legislation)
- Define, validate, and refine the technical choices, having a mindset of always trying to achieve the most cost-effective solution
- Optimize architectures according to the standards in force
- Justify the choices to the owners’ engineers or lender technical advisors
- Train and explain to the draftsmen the specificities of the standards/rules applicable to PV design and engineering
Project management
- Manage the workload schedule of the draftsman(en)
- Validate the documents issued by the draftsman(en)
- Leading kick-off meetings, follow-up meetings and organize the deliverables preparation in function of the agreed deadlines
Selection of subcontractors / suppliers of electrical components
- Drafting of technical specifications
- Analyze and carry out the technical validation of the solutions proposed in the offers
- Attend Factory and Site Acceptance Tests (FAT and SAT), with the responsibility of controlling the quality and technical conformity of the equipment / solution, by validating and listing pending / non-acceptance points
Engineering pre-construction project:
- He/she is responsible for the design engineering of a given project and manages in particular:
- The design planning (management of execution phase and as-built deliverables)
- The resources allocated to the project
- Interfaces with other departments (Project Management, Construction, Sales, Procurement and O&M)
- Interfaces with external engineering offices (as surveys, civil, mechanical, specific studies from electrical scope, such grid interconnection studies (steady-state and dynamic simulations), lightning risk assessment studies, overhead lines studies and engineering, MV & LV cables thermal sizing, etc.)
Profile
- Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Knowledge of LV and MV electrical rules in practice: Excellent- Knowledge of standards (photovoltaic, general electricity, Transformer and Delivery Stations), mainly IEC and EN/CENELEC: Excellent
- Knowledge of power systems analysis and interconnection requirements (Grid Code): Good
- Knowledge of SCADA, monitoring and communications architectures commonly applied in utility-scale PV: Good
- Minimum computational skills: good level in AutoCAD (including PV plug-ins, such as PVcase) and excellent level in PVsyst, Word and Excel
- Knowledge of foreign languages: English required, Portuguese would be appreciated
